Synopsis: This unit introduces the practice of teaching in primary schools. Specific teaching techniques, such as making observations, asking questions and providing explanations are introduced and refined in contexts of practice. The appropriateness of these for different children and learning environments is critiqued. Utilising information and communication technologies, in planning for and delivering sessions form part of this unit. The fieldwork component provides opportunity for students to put these techniques into practice.

Assessment: Professional Experience Log (Equivalent 2000 words) - 50% + ICT Digital Portfolio Assignment (Equivalent 2000 words) - 50% + Hurdle Requirement: Fieldwork - satisfactory completion of semester 1 practicum requirements. PGO (Pass grade only) available in this unit.
