Synopsis: Primary Health and Physical Education is a blend of theoretical and practical aspects of this area of the curriculum. The unit gives a board overview of the key learning area. It looks at major documents providing the framework for school based curriculum development; materials which provide guidelines for school programs; and a number of initiatives presently being introduced in school programs to enhance learning in the key learning area.

Assessment: Assignment (curriculum task relevant to objective 1, 3000 words): 50% + Assignment (resource review and presentation relevant to objective 1, 1500 words): 20% + Practical activity (peer teaching assignment relevant to objectives 2, 2000 words): 30% + Hurdle requirement: 80% attendance.
