Synopsis: Amplifier fundamentals: small-signal concept, transfer functions, time and frequency responses. Single stage BJT and FET amplifiers: CE (CS), CB (CG), CC (CD) and LTP stages, mid-band gain, low and high frequency response. Multi-stage amplifiers, dc amplifiers: origins of offset and drift. Noise in amplifiers. Current mirrors. Power amplifiers. Feedback amplifiers: transfer functions, sensitivity, poles and zeros. RC oscillators. Voltage regulators: linear and switching. Phase locked loop.

Assessment: Examination (3 hours): 70% + Laboratory work and assignments: 30%
