Synopsis: Piecewise-linear analysis. Nonlinear circuits without energy storage: clipper, comparator, logic-gate families. Clamp, rectifiers and filters. Wave-shaping circuits: RC differentiation, pulse generation. Regenerative wave shaping: triggers, multivibrators. Linear analysis: review of amplifier basics. Op-amp imperfections: op-amp internal structure, offset and drift, bandwidth and slew rate. Op-amp linear applications: differential, transconductance, instrumentation amplifiers, second-order active filters. Op-amp nonlinear applications: precision rectifier and clamp, logarithmic and exponential circuits, comparator, Schmitt trigger. Grounding and shielding. Use of CAD tools.
