3D Animation virtual space (6 points)

Synopsis: Introduces the methods and processes involved in creating 3D elements, objects and spaces using a computer and specialist software. The key areas of modelling, rendering and animation will be examined, and various modes of output demonstrated. Different applications of CGI (computer generated imagery), such as motion graphics, character animation and virtual environments are discussed. 3D models will be used to generate movement which involves understanding key sequences, framing and inbetweening.

Assessment: Major projects: 50% Exercises and journal: 30% Essay: 20%

Contact Hours: 2 lecture hours, 2 studio hours, and 8 hours of independent study per week

Prerequisites: VCM4101, or DIS4101
