Psychoanalytic and developmental theories I (6 points)

Synopsis: This unit aims to enable students to have a familiarity with and a knowledge of some of the theories on which the understanding of child development and the practice of child psychotherapy are based. It is designed to give students knowledge of human development from three theoretical perspectives and thereby enable them to have a theoretical basis for their practice of observation, assessment and case management. The theoretical perspectives to be studied in this unit will be those of Sigmund Freud, Anna Freud and John Bowlby.

Assessment: Integrated tutorials + Regular written assignments + Final written assignment + Interactive assessment via a residential workshop + Threaded discussion groups
