Synopsis: Inorganic chemistry Bonding and molecular shapes, redox reactions, metal chemistry, non-metal chemistry, roasting and smelting, electrochemical purification/isolation, coordination chemistry, industrial processes, application of redox, group separation, complexation and electrochemistry. Organic chemistry. Chemistry upon which the preparation of many industrial processes are based; material divided according to carbon number of chemicals, eg 'C1 chemistry' discusses methane, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide and their conversion to methanol etc, new chemical reactions, polymer chemistry, hazardous nature of chemicals.

Assessment: Examination (2.5 hours): 70% + Laboratory work: 30%

Prerequisites: VCE Chemistry 3/4 or ENG1701
