BIO3011Research Methods in Biology (6 points)(SCI) Leader: Assoc Prof Gerry Quinn
Offered: Synopsis: The philosophy of science. Writing and assessing scientific papers and reports. The analysis and interpretation of biological data, especially the design and analysis of experiments. Students wishing to take Honours in Biology are expected to do this unit. Assessment: Examination (2.5 hours): 85% + Practical work and projects: 15% Contact Hours: Two 1-hour lectures and equivalent of 3 hours laboratory/tutorials per week Prerequisites: 12 points from level 2 BOT/ZOO/BIO, and either SCI1020 or STA1010 or STA2010 or permission Prohibitions: BOT3011, ZOO3011 + Recommended: BIO2011 or BIO2051 |
