The discipline

Genetics is the study of genes - their structure, function, transmission and evolution. It lies at the centre of biology because the same genetic principles apply to microbes, plants, animals and humans.

Sequence requirements

Minor sequence in genetics (24 points):

• BIO1011 and either BIO1022 or BIO1042, and
• any two of GEN2041, GEN2052, GEN3031*, GEN3041/GEN3042*, GEN3051/GEN3052* and GEN3062*.

Major sequence in genetics (48 points):

• BIO1011 and either BIO1022 or BIO1042, and
• GEN2041 and GEN2052, and
• any four of MOL2011, GEN3031, GEN3041/GEN3042, GEN3051/ GEN3052 and GEN3062.
