The following should be read in conjunction with the degree
regulations of the Bachelor of Arts and the Bachelor of Commerce. The
double-degree course of Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Commerce requires the
equivalent of four and a quarter years of full-time study, but can be completed
in four years by accelerating with an overload of 12 points. An additional year
is required to complete the degree with honours, or the equivalent in part-time
study. Students must complete units to the value of a minimum of 204 credit
points unit to the following conditions.
(a) 108 points (18 units) must be chosen from units offered by the Faculty
of Business and Economics (Clayton) and must include:
(i) Completion of the following compulsory units:
(ii) Completion of
a major in a discipline or field of study of the faculty. This requires
students to complete 48 points of study in a single discipline or field of
study with at least 12 points at each of second and third-year level.
Disciplines are defined by department prefixes and fields of study are those
sets of related units that may be defined in the catalogue of courses and
units.
(iii) A maximum of eight first-year-level units (48 credit points). In
order to meet this requirement, students are able to undertake the second-year
versions of the appropriate number of compulsory units.
(b) 96 points (16 units) must be chosen from the Faculty of Arts, of which
at least 24 points must be at third-year level, and which must include one
major sequence (48 points), one minor sequence (24 points) and a third
first-year sequence from units offered in the Bachelor of Arts degree.
(c) Overall, a maximum of 84 points (14 units) of first-year-level units.
Students must have their program of study approved by the course coordinator or
the course coordinator's nominee prior to commencement of the relevant year.
