This course, offered by the School of Nursing, is designed to prepare specialist clinical nurses who are able to provide comprehensive care for the patient in the emergency setting. An extensive and diverse range of clinical experience is offered, incorporating patients of varying ages and level of acuity.
Applicants would normally have a degree in nursing or a related discipline; registration with the Nurses Board of Victoria (Division 1 or eligible for registration); and at least one year of professional clinical experience. Special entry may be available.
Students will be required to undertake three elective units and five specialist core units, for a total of eight units. Students may enrol full-time and complete the course in one year. Alternatively, in a part-time enrolment, students will normally complete the course in two years. Units are scheduled in a manner that enables students to undertake part-time employment.

Assessment includes case study reports, tests, online tutorial discussion groups, clinical portfolios, exams, literature reviews, clinical performance, oral presentations, advanced life support assessment, OSCA, learning package and assignments.
