Synopsis: The aim of this unit is to provide students with an understanding of the pathophysiological processes occurring in disease states. Building upon the student's knowledge of physiology, it aims to increase the student's knowledge of altered physiology by exploring health breakdown in simulated and actual patients using a problem-based approach. Topics include cellular, respiratory, cardiovascular, neurological, renal, gastronomical, haematological, immunological, and musculoskeletal physiology. Shock, multisystem organ failure and burns are also included.

Assessment: Case study report: 50% + Tests: 40% + Online tutorial discussion group: 10%
