This 12-unit Master of Management has been designed to allow students the flexibility to select a course of study which enables them to develop the broad range of knowledge and skills required to be successful in the changing world of business. After foundation studies in management theory and leadership, students can tailor their studies to suit their individual requirements and interests by choosing a course of higher-level units from the graduate offerings of the Department of Management.
The degree can be completed either by a coursework option or by a coursework
and research paper option.
Applicants require a pass degree or equivalent qualification from a recognised
tertiary institution, or an executive certificate from this faculty with an
average of credit or above. Candidates may be eligible for a maximum of eight
credit exemptions for units considered to be equivalent to particular
requirements in the course of study. Credit is restricted to study completed in
the last five years. The course director assesses credit exemptions.
This is a fee-paying course. Candidates should consult the Department of
Management as to the 2003 course fee. Course fees are set and reviewed annually
and are therefore subject to change.
The course consists of five core units and seven elective units. Students should complete four 9000-level graduate units before commencing 5000- level units. A minimum of six 5000-level units must be studied.
Seven electives from graduate units taught by the Department of
Management, providing the selection meets overall course objectives and
receives course director approval. In place of up to two electives taught by
the Department of Management, students may enrol in units taught outside the
Department, providing the selection meets overall course objectives and
receives course director approval

In place of four electives, students may enrol in MGX5901 (Research report -
introduction) (12 points) and MGX5900 (Research report) (20,000-word research
report) (12 points).
