Course code: 2619 + Course abbreviation: MApplFin + Course director: Professor Michael Skully + Offered by evening classes at Caulfield campus + Normally completed in two semesters of full-time study or four semesters of part-time study

The course has been designed for graduates with an educational and/or professional background in finance seeking to gain a formal qualification in applied finance. Course intake is available in semester one and semester two.

Applicants require either of the following:

• a Bachelor of Business (Banking and Finance), a finance major within a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting and Finance) or equivalent with at least a credit average
• a Graduate Diploma in Banking and Finance, or Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Management or equivalent with at least a credit average
• any undergraduate degree with at least a credit average plus two years of relevant work experience
• any other undergraduate business or equivalent degree plus the successful completion of four prerequisite units (AFF9260, AFF9270, AFF9350 and AFF9641/AFF9250) with at least a credit average.

Graduates with any other undergraduate degrees would need to complete a Graduate Diploma in Banking and Finance

This is a fee-paying course. Candidates should consult the Department of Accounting and Finance as to the 2003 course fee. Course fees are set and reviewed annually and are therefore subject to change.

Course structure

The course consists of the following eight units:
Two required 9000 units:

• AFF9250 Financial management or AFF9641 Business finance
• AFF9350 Portfolio management and theory

Four required 4000 units:

• AFF4200 Corporate treasury management
• AFF4220 Finance and banking relations
• AFF4230 Financial markets and long-term funding
• AFF4271 Funds management

Two required 5000 units:

• AFF5221 Currency and exposure management
• AFF5240 Treasury administration and control
