Chief Practical Study II

6 points + 2 hours per week + Second semester + Clayton, Malaysia + Prerequisite: MUS1980

Synopsis: Students prepare for a repertoire performance on their chief instrument of a program of works from at least two historical periods and submit a weekly journal to their teachers for assessment of their progress and a summary of the salient concepts and techniques that help inform their weekly practice. The unit is taught through a combination of individual and instumental workshops. Students present the weekly journals in a final assignment to the School in the last week of semester. Students as required to take part, with full attendance, in an ensemble as allocated as a hurdle requirement.

Assessment: Participation of an approved ensemble as a hurdle requirement + Written (2400 words): 35% + Practical performance examination: 65%
