Multivariable calculus

(SCI)

6 points + Three 1-hour lectures, one 1-hour problem class and one 1-hour computer laboratory per week + First/second semester: Clayton + First semester: Gippsland/OCDL + Prerequisite: MTH1030 or MAT1085 + Prohibitions: MAT2901, MAT2030, MAT2910 or MAT2911

Synopsis: Functions of several variables, partial derivatives, extreme values, Lagrange multipliers. Multiple integrals, line integrals, surface integrals. Vector differential calculus; grad, div and curl. Integral theorems of Gauss and Stokes. Functions of a complex variable. Use of a computer algebra package.

Assessment: Examination (3 hours): 50% + Projects: 50%
