12 points + First semester + Second semester + Gippsland + Peninsula + weekly 1hr tutorial + 2hrs private study + minimum of 216hrs of associated clinical practice over the two semesters for the purpose of clinical assessment and supernumerary clinical experience + prerequisites:MID6611 Scientific Foundation for Midwifery Practice and MID6612 Nature of Midwifery Practice

Synopsis: This unit prepares the students for the delivery of midwifery care across the spectrum of childbirth, encompasses pre-conception care and health promotion, antenatal care, pregnancy, birth and postnatal periods on a continuous process.

Assessment: Case study 20% + Clinical reflective exercises 20% + Examination (end semester two) 40% + Case study 20% + Clinical Performance Appraisal Pass/Fail
