MID6611Scientific foundation for midwifery practice(MED)
Ms P David & Ms K Jacobs 6 points + First semester + Gippsland + Peninsula + 2 hr lecture each week, with 7-8 hours of directed activities and private study per week over 16 weeks + corequisite MID6613 Integrated Midwifery Practice Synopsis: A sound understanding of scientific principles relating to the reproductive processes is fundamental for safe, responsive and effective midwifery practice. This unit introduces students to a range of scientific principles that relate to, and can be applied into, midwifery practice. The unit incorporates a range of topic areas including: anatomy and physiology, embryology, fertility and infertility, labour, fetal circulation, growth and development, genetics and lactation. The concepts introduced in this unit will be expanded within other units of the course. Assessment: Class test 30% + Written assignment 20% + Exam 50% |
