Synopsis: The unit comprises a weekly grammar workshop, a 2-hour language acquisition class, and a lecture/seminar(*French Culture and Society since the Enlightenment*) which provides an introduction to modern French culture and society within a multi-disciplinary framework.

Assessment: Grammar competency tests: 15% + Written production: 15% + Listening comprehension: 10% + Oral production: 10% + Research project: 15% + Test on lecture program: 10% + Examination: 25%
