Synopsis: This unit comprises a weekly grammar workshop, a 2-hour language acquisition class, and a lecture/seminar program (*French Culture and Society since the Enlightenment*) which provides an introduction to modern French culture and society within a multi-disciplinary framework.

Assessment: Grammar competency test: 15% + Written production: 15% + Listening comprehension: 10% + oral production: 10% + Research project: 15% + Test on lecture program: 10% + Exam: 25%
