Issues in Human Communications across the Internet

6 points + 4 hours per week + First semester + Peninsula + Prerequisites: CPE1003 plus a further 12 points of 2nd yr Network Computing study

Synopsis: The use of the Internet as a source of human communication. Students will be required to examine issues that relate to the Internet as a human communications medium. In order to explore these issues, students will investigate the different ways the Web is used to communicate and present information for a variety of uses and the various media forms that support this. The media forms will be discussed individually in terms of their history, use in society, psychology of use and their ability to present information for these various uses. Students will be expected to explore these issues themselves, in addition to class material and using the Internet.
