CLS1020Introduction to comparative literature(ART)
Philip Anderson 6 points + 3 hours per week + Second semester + Clayton + Prerequisites: CLS1010 + Prohibitions: ENH1122 Synopsis: Continuing the work of CLS1010, this unit will provide an introduction to comparative literature. The unit will focus on the interaction between texts and their contexts (historical, social, linguistics, cultural and personal) and specifically between text and literary/cultural topics, text and intertext. The texts studied are representative of ancient and modern literature of different linguistics and cultural traditions (Biblical and classical texts, European and Asian texts.) Assessment: Essay (1500 words): 30% + Examination (1.5 hours): 25% + Practical work/seminar participation: 45% |
