Synopsis: Topics include introduction to the common law and legislation which controls the management of staff; the law affecting the selection, recruitment and termination of staff; employment contracts and their implications; the industrial relations commission and courts; workplace health and safety; union relationships and industrial action; tortious liability of management; wages and salary administration; suspension and stand down; anti-discrimination law.

Assessment: Assignment (3500 words): 40% + Examination (3 hours): 60%
