This
course, offered by the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine,
provides a program for professionals in the workplace who wish to expand their
knowledge and skills in preventive occupational health practice. The course is
completed in one year part-time and is offered by off-campus distributed
learning (distance education) with compulsory block requirements each semester.
The course is not offered on a full-time basis. This degree provides the basic
knowledge in legal OHS requirements and competence in assessing and controlling
workplace hazards and articulates with the Graduate Diploma in Occupational and
Environmental Health and then the Master of Occupational and Environmental
Health or the Master of Public Health.
Applicants must have a medical degree, a bachelors degree with honours or
graduate diploma, or a three-year bachelors degree with at least two years
relevant professional experience in a health-related field. The department will
individually assess applications from students without a three-year degree but
with extensive relevant professional experience.
This course is comprised of four core units.
Assessment includes web-based tasks, written assignments and examinations.
