Graduate Certificate in Health Services Management


General information

This course, offered by the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine, targets professionals working within the health care sector who wish to expand their knowledge and skills in the management of health services. The course is completed in one year part-time and is offered by off-campus distributed learning (distance education) with some compulsory block requirements each semester. The course is not offered on a full-time basis. The degree provides core competencies in health services management, including leadership, human resource and financial management of health services and articulates with the Graduate Diploma in Health Services Management and then the Master of Health Services Management or the Master of Public Health.
Applicants must have a medical degree, a bachelors degree with honours or graduate diploma, or a three-year bachelors degree with at least two years relevant professional experience in a health-related field. The department will individually assess applications from students without a three-year degree but with extensive relevant professional experience.

Assessment includes web-based tasks, written assignments, and individual and group presentations.
