Synopsis: Financial management issues confronting clinically-based managers, the management of budgets & the analysis of financial data. Key areas: concepts of the balance sheet, profit & loss accounts; distinctions between cash flow, accounting profit & taxable income; role of budgets & various approaches to costing; reporting against budgets. Strategies to optimise resource use, cost-containment strategies, development & presentation of business plans.
