This four-unit course is designed to help people understand the conceptual
framework of public policy and management in the public sector. The course will
analyse the current major challenges in public policy and public management and
the range of solutions being canvassed to address these by modern
government.
The course will provide students with the opportunity to apply the skills
gained from the program to work-related situations.
Applicants require a pass degree or equivalent qualification from a recognised
tertiary institution. Applicants without a first degree who have a minimum of
six years appropriate employment experience should refer to the section on
executive certificates. Candidates may be eligible for a maximum of two credit
exemptions for units considered to be equivalent to particular units in the
course of study. Credit is restricted to study completed in the last five
years. Refer to the course director for further details.
This is a fee-paying course. Candidates should consult the Department of
Management as to the 2002 course fee. Course fees are set and reviewed annually
and are therefore subject to change.
Students who successfully complete the Graduate Certificate in Public Policy
and Management may apply for admission to the Graduate Diploma in Public Policy
and Management or Master in Public Policy and Management and would be eligible
for exemption for four units.
