This course is of two years duration, offered part-time by off-campus distributed learning. The structure consists of four core units and four elective units. The course aims to provide the registered nurse with specialist preparation in community nursing. Graduates of the course will be well equipped to enter a wide range of careers in community health nursing. Graduates will also be able to fully articulate the course and complete a Master of Nursing course.
To
be eligible for admission, an applicant would normally have relevant
registration (eg Division 1 with the Nurses Board of Victoria), have at
least one year of nursing experience, and have a degree in nursing or a related
discipline.
Please note that to satisfy the requirements of unit assessments within the
course, students will be expected to network with practitioners and agencies in
the field of community health nursing. Also, students who are not currently
working in a community health setting will be required to undertake four weeks
practice in a community setting of their choice.
