Professional roles and responsibilities in community health nursing

6 points + 12 hours per week + First semester + Gippsland (OCDL)/Peninsula (mixed mode)

Synopsis: This unit aims to further develop the professional role of community nurses to be able to function as a specialist and advanced practitioner in a variety of community orientated contexts. The unit examines models of care that emphasis a developmental and contextual orientation, and also studies professional frameworks for community health practice including exploration of independent and expanded practice, professional, legal and ethical issues, standards and communication issues and project/program and quality management concepts and processes.

Assessment: Assignment 1: 35% + Case conferencing: 25% + Assignment 2: 40%
