Synopsis: The subject deals with music, aesthetic, social and ritual concepts and practices as expressed in the musical life of North and South India with particular reference to selected performances of music and dance, the relationships between music and the related arts.

Assessment: Written (2000 words): 40% + Analysis assignment (500 words): 30% + Examination (2 hours): 30%
