MUS2120Analytical and compositional techniques II(ART)
Thomas Reiner 6 points + 2 hours per week + Second semester + Clayton + Prerequisites: MUS2110 and either MUS1100 and MUS1110 or MUS1010 and MUS1020 Synopsis: The subject covers traditional counterpoint, Schenkerian analysis, and the twelve-tone system. Students learn to write species counterpoint and atonal music, and examine the multi-layered harmonic structure of tonal music. Assessment: Twelve-tone composition: 20% + Counterpoint group assignment: 10% + Schenkerian analysis group assignment: 10% + Aural training test: 10% + Examination (2 hours): 50% |
