Conducting II

12 points + 2 hour per week + Second Semester + Clayton + Prerequisite: MUM4320

Synopsis: Guided by supervisors, the student chooses and submits a program of works to be studied and conducted. The rationale for selection of works will be on developing a total concept of extended work or works. An essay containing a fully developed justification of the program, and a discussion of the performance practice, analysis and history of the repertoire is to be submitted. Students will receive an individual conducting lesson each week and attend masterclasses. Each student arranges and presents a lecture demonstration and performance and writes a program booklet.

Assessment: Essay on selected program works (2000 words) 20% + 60 minute lecture-demonstration, performance and program booklet (2000 words): 80%
