Organisational behaviour

6 points + One 2-hour lecture and one 1-hour tutorial per week + Berwick, second semester + Gippsland, Peninsula, Distance, second semester + Malaysia, first semester + Prerequisite: MGW1010 or equivalent + Prohibition: MGB1303, MGG1303, MGW1303

Synopsis: Students gain an understanding of factors affecting the behaviour of people in work settings. It focuses on individual, group, and total organisational human factors influencing the effectiveness of organisations, including: the nature of organisations in the global context; individual behaviour including perception, attitudes, values and personality, motivation and performance; group behaviour in organisations - the properties and management of groups, leaders and leadership, organisational power, influence, communication, conflict and decision making; organisational structure; organisational culture; change; the formal and informal organisation.

Assessment: On campus: Assignment 1: 20% + Assignment 2: 30% + Tutorial participation: 10% + Examination (2 hours): 40%. Distance: Two assignments: 60% + Examination (2 hours): 40%
