L L Koss 4 points + 22 lectures, 6 tutorials and 9 laboratory hours + Second semester + Clayton + Prerequisites: MEC2440, MAT2910 or MAT2901, MAT2920 or MAT2902 Synopsis: Undamped and damped free vibration. Energy and Rayleigh0s method. Viscous damping. Logarithmic decrement. Forced vibration, impedance and Bode diagram. Resonance, vibration isolation, reciprocating and rotating unbalance. Whirling of rotating shafts. Fourier analysis, impulse function and convolution integral. Systems with two degrees of freedom, normal modes, principal coordinates, vibration absorbers, forced and free response. Continuous systems, string, longitudinal, torsional and transverse vibration of beams. Lagranges equations and applications. Human effects.
