ENH2290Authorship and publishing(ART)
H Love 6 points + 2 hours per week + First semester + Clayton + Prerequisites: A first-year sequence in English or permission + Prohibition: ENH3290 Synopsis: The subject (formerly Publishing in Australia) explores the social and professional conditions under which works of literature are written and brought into the public domain and the nature of the professional work of authors, agents, editors and publishers. It will deal with practical as well as theoretical and historical aspects. It may be taken by itself or together with ENH2050/3050 `The reader in history' which covers the complementary topic of reception. The interdependence of the Australian, British and American publishing industries is explored in order to establish the social and cultural significance of the local trade. Assessment: Short exercise (1000 words): 25% + Essay or practical exercise (2500 words): 50% + Class test (1 hour): 25% |
