Reasons for feedback control. Poles and zeros. Step response. Stability of feedback systems. Frequency response analysis and root locus analysis of feedback control systems. Steady-state error and system type. Electronics: semiconductor diodes: V-I characteristic. Diode applications: piecewise-linear equivalent circuits, rectifier, voltage multiplier. V-I characteristics of BJT and FETs. 3-terminal devices in circuits. Nonlinear circuits. Amplifiers: quiescent point and small changes, simple biasing, small-signal equivalent circuits, linear circuit analysis. Ideal operational amplifiers. Elementary dynamics of operational-amplifier circuits. Assessment: Examination (3 hours): 70% + Continual assessment: 30% |
