CHI3480Chinese for dialect speakers, part 2(ART)
Lijun Bi 6 points + 4 hours per week + Second semester + Clayton + Prerequisites: Basic literacy in Chinese, a pass in CHI1470/2470/3470 or equivalent + Prohibitions: Speakers of Mandarin and CHI1480/2480 Synopsis: This subject is available to students who cannot speak putonghua but who are fluent speakers of Cantonese and literate in Chinese. The main object of this subject is to help students acquire fluency in spoken putonghua and familiarize with the simplified Chinese character. The subject will introduce the Chinese phonetic system and phonology. Pinyin romanisation and the simplified character will be used. Assessment: Class participation, performance and homework: 15% + Oral presentation: 10% + Class written test (2 hours): 15% + Written examination (2 hours): 40% + Oral examination: 20% |
