Graduate Diploma in Accounting


Course code: 0110 * Course abbreviation: GradDipAcc * Clayton campus * Course director: Mr Grant Gay * No new intake after 1998 * May be completed in three semesters of full-time study or six semesters of part-time study (usually takes full-time students four semesters and part-time students eight semesters to owing to timetabling constraints)
At the request of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, the Department of Accounting and Finance developed a graduate diploma which serves as a conversion course for those without tertiary qualifications in accounting. Students enrolling in the course are not required to be employed by a firm of chartered accountants.
Applicants for the course must have qualified for a pass degree or an equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution. Candidates may be eligible for a maximum of six credit exemptions for subjects considered to be equivalent to particular requirements in the course of study. This is a fee-paying course. Candidates should refer to the Department of Accounting and Finance as to the 2001 course fee. Course fees are set and reviewed annually and are therefore subject to change.
This course enables graduates who have completed degrees in disciplines other than accounting to become academically qualified to enter the Professional Year program of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and the CPA program of the Australian Society of Certified Practising Accountants.
Students who attain the required standard may be permitted to transfer to the Master of Professional Accounting.
