The Department of Community Medicine and General Practice offers this clinical update course in general practice. It is designed to meet the educational needs of general practitioners seeking up-skilling and doctors training for general practice. Articulation into the Graduate Diploma and Masters of Family Medicine is possible upon completion of the Graduate Certificate.
The course is available to registered medical practitioners in clinical general practice or general practice training.
A number of units may require students to visit the department for a weekend workshop. Some units have an optional one weekend workshop.
The course is conducted over 12 months part time (two semesters). The coursework includes two compulsory core units as listed below plus a selection of modules and/or electives similar to those offered in the Graduate Diploma in Family Medicine:
Assessment will include coursework participation, assignments with occassional special projects and examinations.
Candidates who have other equivalent qualifications may apply for exemption for certain units in the graduate certificate course. Each case will be considered on its merits.
