Synopsis: The basic syntax of the COBOL 85 languages. The design, testing and implementation in COBOL 85 of batch and interactive commercial algorithms. Sequential, indexed and relative file processing. Other topics include transaction processing, multi-user programming issues involved in large scale legacy systems. New advances in COBOL. Year 2000 problems.
Assessment: Examination (3 hours) and unit test: 60% + Assignment: 40%
