Synopsis: The overall theme is how human body systems act together (integratively) in complex body functions. Study is of four major functions: Exercise, Digestion and Nutrition, Endocrine Control, and Sex, Growth and Development. The first study area details how many body systems (cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, muscular, nervous) function together for performance during exercise. The next study area is the physiology of digestion, extending on to nutrition and human health. The third area is the physiology of hormones and how they co-ordinate and integrate the body in health, growth and disease. The final area is the physiology of reproduction, extending on to human growth and development.

Assessment: Three multiple-choice tests (45 mins each): 25% + Fortnightly practical report assessment: 20% + Practical written examination (1.5 hours): 25% + Theory written examination (3 hours): 30%
