Synopsis: Heat transfer modes: conduction, convection and radiation; steady heat conduction, circuit analysis of steady conduction. The equations of conservation of mass, momentum and energy for convection heat transfer, differential and integral analysis, non-dimensional groups and the analogy between momentum and heat transfer. Similarity, approximate and numerical solutions for forced convection boundary layer heat transfer. Convection heat transfer in tubes and channels.
