Synopsis: Control volume formulation and the development of the Navier-Stokes equation. Simplified forms of the equation of motion for boundary layers and potential flow. Different forms of turbomachines and their performance in dimensionless form. Compressible flow equations. Sound, its physics, measurement and noise control.
Assessment: Examinations: 2 hours (75%) + Laboratory work: 25%
