Synopsis: Introduction to the use of materials and manufacturing processes with reference to their application in product design. Low volume production applicable to the timber products area. Finishes and laminates, paper and paper board products, fabricated metal, formed plastics and glassware products. Product lifecycle and environmental design considerations including disassembly techniques and the recycling of metals and plastics.

Assessment: Major projects: 60% + Examination: 40%
