Synopsis: This subject provides an introduction to appropriate practice in reporting legal proceedings and the laws relating to journalism and publishing. Tensions between privacy, citzenship and public communication will be explored. It addresses practical approaches to law and reporting and issues raised by the need for ethics in journalism.

Assessment: Two advanced reporting projects: 30% each + Research project on a current issue in journalism and law: 40%
