8 points + 1-hour lecture and 2-hour tutorial per week + First semester + Gippsland + Prerequisites: GSC1902, GSC1903 or equivalents

Synopsis: This subject will explore the role of radio news and current affairs in society; the production of meaning through processes such as script writing and editing; the practice of radio journalism field work including the use of audio recording equipment and digital editing.

Assessment: Radio analysis (1500 words): 30% + Short production (3-5 minutes): 10% + Proposal (500 words): 10% + Extended production (10-15 minutes): 30% + Critical essay (1000 words): 20%
