Synopsis: The evolution of international behaviours and the developments of theories of international relations. The emergence of great powers. The emergence of diplomacy and foreign policy. The use of conflict resolution and force as instruments of policy. The sources of power. Cooperation in international affairs. The emergence of global systems in international relations.

Assessment: Essay one (1500 words): 30% + Essay two (2500 words): 40% + Examination (2 hours): 30%
