Synopsis: A study of key ideas of social organisation, change and conflict in the late twentieth century. The conflict between tradition and change in particular locations. Their roles in determining globalising and regionalising forces. Ideas about rights, responsibilities and rewards central to the formation and maintenance of governments and world order. The roles of moral and ethical values in shaping political, economic and social ideas and the debates to which they contribute.

Assessment: Tutorial paper (1000 words): 20% + Essay (1500 words): 40% + Examination (2 hours): 40%
