Synopsis: Issues and demands facing counselling psychologists in professional practice. The nature of various employment situations and their specific requirements. Ethical and legal constraints of psychological practice. Ways that counselling psychologists can work in multidisciplinary teams. Issues include the nature and quality of various systems of assessment, diagnosis, treatment and reporting to other professionals; ethical and legal responsibility for intervention; taking and making referrals; the necessity, nature, and procedures for upgrading and maintenance of professional expertise; the counselling psychologist0s responsibilities to clients, families, institutions, society and self.

Assessment: Two class presentations (20 mins each): 10% each + Two papers (2000 words and 3000 words): 40% each
