Synopsis: Single-phase AC networks, power factor correction, single-phase diode and SCR rectifiers, effect of rectifier filter systems, single phase transformers including ideal and practical equivalent circuits, measurement of transformer equivalent circuit elements, transformer efficiency and regulation, electrical plant control systems, programmable logic controllers, analysis and modelling of DC machines, DC motor variable speed operation and transient performance, three phase AC networks, structure of AC power distribution systemms.

Assessment: Examination (3 hours): 70% + Laboratory work: 20% + Assignments/tests: 10%
